Brunton Shaw manufacture a range of wire ropes that conform to American Petroleum Institute Specifications No: API 9A.

These ropes are grouped in various classifications:

	6 x 7 Classification Ropes having 6 strands of 7 wires
	6 x 19 Classification Ropes having 6 strands of 15 to 26 wires
	6 x 37 Classification Ropes having 6 strands of 27 to 49 wires

The latest API 9A specification also recognises Compacted Ropes (see our CRANEMASTER range) and plastic filled ropes (see our PIR range of ropes.

Most types of wire rope can be supplied with either full, or partial, plastic impregnation including Drilling Lines and Riser Tensioner wires. Plastic impregnation offers many operating benefits, including:-

• Longer Service Life.
• Sealed-in lubrication.
• Increased resistance to wear and fatigue.
• Better load bearing and sharing.
• Higher resistance to crushing on the drum.
